“The Lost Coast” of The Republic of
Panama, located on the Pacific Ocean in the Chiriqui Lowlands
near the city of David -- accessible by land, sea, and air.
This gulf is famous for dozens of little islands, world class
fishing, scuba diving and boating. It is among the most
picturesque regions of Panama.
By land, travel time is
approximately 20 minutes from Horconcitos, District of San
Lorenzo, Province of Chiriqui, a one hour drive from the city of
David, or five hours drive from Panama City. There are
several daily flights between David and Panama City, as well as
between David and other cities in Panama.
The Chiriqui gulf region encompasses Coiba Island to the East,
home to some of the best sport fishing in the Pacific, and
stretches West to the Costa Rican border in the Province of
Chiriqui. This area includes the 14,600 acre National Wildlife
Reserve-La Barqueta Beach, the 36,400 acre Gulf of Chiriqui
National Marine Park and the 667,000 acre Coiba Island National
Park - which is only 20% terrestrial. The Pedregal Marina in
David has mooring available as well as a concrete pier and
boat launch with dry dock storage facilities for boats of 30
feet or less in length.
Development in this area, with an
emphasis on Boca Chica and Boca Brava, has been taking off fast.
Several sport fishing businesses have opened for business and a
5 star Sport Fishing lodge will be opened within a year on the
one of the prettiest beaches in the Paridas Archipelago, at 20
minutes from Boca Chica. A dive operation is under construction,
and several small hotels will be built in the area of Boca Chica
and Boca Brava soon. A large reforestation project is
being planted as we speak, and several of our customers will be
building their new tourism related businesses either on the
mainland shores or on one of the islands this year.
The paving of the road from Horconcitos to Boca Chica is still a
wish that we all have; hopefully under the new government we
will finally see the day we can drive from David to our
properties in Boca Chica in 45 minutes or less.
Why We Like The Chiriqui Gulf For Investment:
1. Private Islands -- there
are a number of private islands where investors can purchase
2. Unspoiled Beauty -- this
region remains pristine with white sand beaches, dense
tropical forest and abundant wildlife. The tourism
potential in this area is huge.
3. Potential Boating Mecca --
this is a yachting and sailing fan's fantasy. Dozens
of little islands, protected harbors, fantastic scenery,
marine life, and an aquatic National Park. The future
of Panama's Pacific boating could lie in this zone.
